Blown Cover

I am sad to say that I think that I blew my cover with my sock pal. That is why I have put away the pair i pictured here and began again. I am 100% happier with my product but can't share... yet. I'm looking forward to putting my goodies together and sending it off.

socks, marshmallows, lizards.

Here we are. A finished sock. Marshmallows are meant to stretch the lace - not mimic the shape of my pal. I made two changes - cuffs knit with 2s, leg and foot 1.5s and the toe 1s. Ripped out toe as written - it was two pointy and long on my gauge so i just did a simple eor dec to 16 stitches and then kitchener.
Hopefully you can see a bit better. I love that handpainted yarn in reverse stockinette. Hope it doesn't look inside out.
Here's another little thing I'm addicted to, I mean I am working on. Thank goodness for lizardridges from knitty.com. I used the same ball but used both ends for the top six. The bottom is leftovers from the top six. I think I will go buy more kureyon (this is what I had in my stash) and work on this at the beach next week.
Now here is another project that I need help with. This is from the latest interweave issue and is the tuxedo top. I am discouraged because i have read how much many of you disliked this piece. But i love a nice loose airy linen top for summer. Something i can throw over a tiny tank to take my 16 year old son somewhere without him being embarassed. Its supposed to be in reverse stockinette but I decided to do stockinette with a small garter stitch border. I know the stitches will look more regular after a number of wash and dries. What do ;you think?
Thanks for visiting. Next post will bring the lace insert and perhaps some humor. Don't expect the next sock for at least two weeks.Posted by Picasa

I have done it!!!! Here are pictures of my sockapalooza sock. The yarn is schaeffer anne - I love the bit of mohair in this yarn. After washing there is a gentle haze around the sock that i love. I probably bought 3 or 4 different socks yarns with the intentions of using it and then found this in my stash... fits the colors my pal wanted. Why do I never look there first?
Now you can see the pattern. This is Metropolis Socks from Wildhorse Farm Designs (www.wildhorsefarmdesigns.com). Lisa Parker is the designer and I have to commend her on both her design and her clear instructions. (i have been stressing about figuring out how to link to her site and am pleased to see that it happened automatically!). I usually hate pooling colors but am pleased with what happened on the back of the heel.
I love the look of hand painted yarns in reverse stockinette so this suited. My pal wanted a short sock and I think the pattern worked. I am looking forward to trying it in a longer sock because I think the pattern is so interesting. Also easy to work but not boring .... just right. I hope that they fit ok - my pals foot is way different then mine and haven't worked up the courage to start measuring friends feet to find a suitable model. I'm reminding myself that when I read other people worries in this department mine first thought to them is to keep in mind that this is for fun and that i certainly wouldn't want my sock fairy to worry so I will make a conscience effort to do my best and let the rest go....

This isn't the most professional of layouts but had to share my excitement...

socks create a blog!

Sockapalooza4 has done more than create lots and lots of socks (we hope) but has given me motivation to attempt a blog. Each day this week I will try something new. My little sock project will provide some interesting fodder. Stay tuned!
